This guy makes it sound like people are banging themselves agains the door, desperately wanting to be saved, but that mean ol' Calvinist God won't let them in, no matter how hard they try. Ha!

The reality is that we are all happily speeding down the "Highway to Hell," with our middle finger raised in God's direction, until his amazing grace regenerates our heart so that it will love him and hate sin, instead of the other way around.

It's like Baxter wrote in Saints' Everlasting Rest: "This is the woful case of all mankind since the fall. When Christ comes with regenerating grace, he finds no man sitting still, but all posting to eternal ruin, and making haste toward hell; till, by conviction, he first brings them to a stand, and then, by conversion, turns their hearts and lives sincerely to himself."

It is true that only those that God chooses will be saved, but those who are left in their depravity would never WANT to be saved anyway.

What really gets me about this is that Calvinist/Reformed guys are always taking heat for splitting churches and implying that Arminians aren't really Christians. Then, guys like this come out and lump us in with any and every heretical group they can find. Yeah, there are some (many?) rabid Calvinists out there that are a little over-zealous in the way they approach the debate, but most that I've come in contact with are zealous in their doctrine but compassionate toward those they disagree with. Most Calvinists I know were Arminians at one point in time, before they studied the Bible on these issues and saw what God's word really says about them. So, at least for me, I consider most Arminians to just be very immature Calvinists who may one day come around, if they study the scriptures.

I also think it's funny that I'm a heretic for baptizing my children (we're PCA presbys). I would NEVER call a Baptist a heretic for waiting to get baptized, or waiting to baptize their children, until they were able to make a fully articulated statement of faith. I would disagree with the position, but it is easy for me to admit that there is a lot of gray area on that one and that both sides can be fairly well supported scripturally.

It's a good thing we have guys like Cloud out there protecting us from such dangerous, biblical doctrines! I know I'll sleep much better tonight knowing he's on patrol for hetetics like, well, me.

This is a complete misrepresentation of the views of the Presbyterians on the covenants of God. The church has not rplaced Israel per se but is a continuation of God's work of redemption and in that sense Paul calls the believers (Gentile) "Israel".

"And as for all who walk by this rule, peace and mercy be upon them, and upon the Israel of God." (Gal 6:16)

A distinction is made between outward Jewishness (ethnicity) and true Jewishness, which includes Gentiles:

"But it is not as though the word of God has failed. For not all who are descended from Israel belong to Israel" (Rom 9:6)

I guess everyone who disagrees with premillinial Tim Layhayian and Arminian theology is a heretic according to this guy.

I love Charles Spurgeon,
He is so cut and dry, and so full of real passion! His book Lectures to my students is a great book that I have enjoyed. Good practical advice. I love that he was virtually a Holy-Spirit taught man. I heard that he never went to cemetary. Ooops I mean Seminary!

Better throw my name up there with the rest of those "heretics". I guess man-centered theology(an oxy-moron) isn't dangerous to bible-believing churches. Let's just forget all this hoopla about sound exegesis and "win souls" and tabulate numbers, and get plenty of baptisms under our belt!
